Fort Scott Community College offers a variety of programs for Jayhawk-Linn High School juniors and seniors through the STARS program located at 1701 Laurel St. Pleasanton, KS. These programs are dual credit as students can earn high school and college credit at the same time. Students can also earn certification in these programs. Most of the programs take 2 years to complete.
The following are programs that are offered at STARS:
Certified Nurse Aide-CNA (1 semester program)
Medical Terminology (1 semester program)
Emergency Medical Technician-EMT (1 year program)
Criminal Justice
Construction Trades
Welding
Heavy Equipment
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration).
Students that enter either the Construction Trades, Welding, Heavy Equipment, or HVAC programs also have the opportunity to earn an English and Math credit as well. Students will need to maintain a C average in their STARS program and earn a 4 or above on the ACT-WORKKEYS Test.
